Brian has been a Washington County resident since 1988 and attended the Boonsboro school system for twelve years, graduating in 2000. Shortly after graduating, Brian enlisted in the United States Navy as a Builder with the Seabees. During his time in the Navy, he deployed three times; twice to Kuwait and Iraq in support of the Coalition forces in Operation Iraqi Freedom. While in the Navy, Brian achieved the rank of Petty Officer Third Class and received several personal awards such as the Combat Action Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and became Seabee Combat Warfare qualified during his deployment in Iraq. After serving on active duty for four years, Brian decided to rejoin civilian life in the fall of 2004.
After returning home, Brian began civilian employment with Lids at the Valley Mall as a retail clerk through February 2007. In early 2007, Brian was hired part-time by Washington County as an Emergency Communications Specialist (911 dispatcher) and in April 2008, he was given full-time status with Washington County Emergency Communications. During his tenure with Washington County, Brian received numerous accolades and commendations for his service to Washington County; culminating with a Dispatcher of the Year award in 2014. Also, during his employment with Washington County, he was promoted to shift supervisor and was heavily involved in the training program for emergency communications. In 2016, Brian began employment with Frederick County Emergency Communications and is now a full-time employee with that agency.
Brian is currently completing his bachelor's degree in political science with American Public University online and expects to be finished within the year. He and wife Katie have been married since 2007, live in Saint James south of Hagerstown, and Katie has been a seventh grade Social Studies teacher at Springfield Middle School in Williamsport since 2004. They enjoy traveling during the summer months, working outside in their garden, and spending time with their family cats.
Brian is a member of American Legion Post 211 in Funkstown, the Improved Order of Red Men in Williamsport, and the Elk's Lodge #378 in Hagerstown.
